Vape Review: SMOK G-PRIV 220

Hey, Everyone!

Check out my fancypants touchscreen vape! Pretty cool, huh?

The SMOK G-Priv uses two batteries and ramps up to 220W. It has a resistance range of 0.1 – 3.0 ohms and a temperature range of 200 – 600 degrees (F).

It’s a hefty lil bugger at 202 grams (almost half a pound!).

It comes in 10 different colors, all featuring a carbon fiber battery cover.

If you get the “kit” version, it comes with the TFV8 Big Baby tank which has a 5ml capacity.

It’s an eye-catching vape mod (I get a lot of comments on it when I take it out in public), but how does it stack up…? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons. Continue reading “Vape Review: SMOK G-PRIV 220”

6 Strawberry Vape Juices to Try

Strawberries are without a doubt one of the most popular and delicious fruits on the planet. For this reason, it is no surprise that there is no shortage of strawberry e-juice flavors. Due to such a wide range of flavors based around the little juicy red fruit, it can be hard to decide which vape juice to buy.

Personally, strawberry flavored e-liquids are my absolute favorite. If you read Lauren and my previous review of the juice brand One Hit Wonder you know that my favorite, and first flavor ever, was Milk Man — a take on strawberry milk.

You may be wondering what other combinations are available out there if you love strawberries, and, most importantly, are they TASTY? Let’s find out, shall we? Continue reading “6 Strawberry Vape Juices to Try”

Vape Nation: Your Freedom is at Risk!

Hi, Everyone!

I started Lauren Vapes to share “vaping thoughts and reviews.” Thus far, I’ve focused primarily on reviews… But I can hold back my thoughts no longer!

There’s a BIG problem in the vaping world, and I’m finally prepared to talk about it.

Certain groups of individuals against fun and freedom are trying to take away our right to vape. This has been an issue for a while now, and it’s only growing.

Vaping Restrictions on a Government Level

Last year, the FDA finalized their plan to put vaping under their authority. In addition to restricting sales to minors (which most states did on their own anyway), each new vape product now has to go through the FDA’s strict approval process.

This process is long and difficult. Not to mention EACH product needs a separate application — an application that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars (sometimes millions!).

Basically, the FDA is now regulating vaping products as they would tobacco products — even though vape juices contain ZERO tobacco in them. In fact, many new vape juices don’t even use nicotine derived from tobacco AT ALL, instead opting to get their nicotine from eggplants, potatoes, or synthetic properties.

Due to the high prices demanded by the FDA, fewer and fewer new vaping products are hitting the market, and many small business owners have faded away into bankruptcy.

Not only does this mean that we have fewer innovations in the vaping world (no fun!), but these policies could also slow the decline of traditional cigarette usage. To put it simply: If vaping products aren’t available as harm reduction devices, smokers looking to quit can’t buy or use them!

Essentially, the FDA is driving smokers back to harmful cigarettes as their form of nicotine consumption. But why would they do that? In this recent report from Public Health England, experts revealed that vaping is 95-99% safer than smoking. In fact, the researchers also suggested that we could save 76,000 lives per year by convincing smokers to switch to vaping!

The answer, in my opinion, is government greed. Continue reading “Vape Nation: Your Freedom is at Risk!”

Another 37 Vape Juice Flavors Reviewed

Hey, Everyone!

It’s been a while since I did a MASSIVE vape juice review round-up, so here we go! These are in no particular order:

1 – 3. Magnetic Worms/Rocks/Dust by 7 Daze

I’m putting three in one category because they taste virtually the same with only slight differences. Each of these flavors is strawberry, grape, and a twist of orange. They’re all slightly sour. Worms has a “gummy” taste, Rocks has a bit of a “fizz” on the aftertaste (like pop rocks), and Dust is pretty much just straight-up sour sugar. So, if you like sour candies, these are all pretty good — you can choose which one you like best based on the “texture” you’re looking for. I also liked that they came with unicorn bottles.

4. Pink Sticks by 7 Daze

This one is heavy on the “sticks” and not so much on the “pink.” It’s based on strawberry Pocky, and you’ll mostly get the cookie flavor and not too much of the strawberry. Not too bad, but I would have loved it if it were just a tad sweeter (like Stix). I appreciated the unicorn bottle it came with though. Nice extra touch.

5. Pancake Man by Vape Breakfast Classics

Warm pancakes with strawberries, maple syrup, and a dollop of whipped cream. I was nervous about the “whipped cream” because cream/milk vape juices make me nauseous, but I didn’t even taste the “whipped cream” in this — and that was just fine by me! The pancake flavor is dead on, and the strawberries with syrup are fantastic. This is a very unique flavor that may take you a few puffs to get used to before you’re fully on board with it. It’s thick and almost “filling” in a sense. You’ll feel like you ordered a batch of fruity pancakes at IHOP and inhaled them. Continue reading “Another 37 Vape Juice Flavors Reviewed”

Vaping Success Story: Frank Spear

Hey, Everyone!

This is a new thing I’m doing here at Lauren Vapes. Featuring everyday vapers who have had great successes! If you’d like to share YOUR story, contact me.

For my first interview, I turned to my friend Frank Spear. He’s a fellow freelance writer and successfully quit smoking (after over a decade!) thanks to vaping.

Some of you may recognize Frank’s name from the duo review we did of One Hit Wonder’s line of vape juices. He’s a good dude.

Without further ado, here’s the transcript of my Skype interview with Frank:

My Interview with Frank Spear

Lauren Tharp: Hi, Frank! Thanks for agreeing to do this. Let’s start simple… Tell my readers who you are, please.

Frank Spear: Hi! Well, my name is Frank. I live in a tiny town in Ohio and I am a full-time freelance writer!

Lauren: Awesome. And you’re a vaper, correct?

Frank: Yes. I am a vaper, and I can say with certainty that switching from smoking cigarettes to vaping is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Lauren: How long were you a smoker? And what inspired you to make the switch?

Frank: Well I rubbed snuff, dip, whatever you want to call it for four years (13-17) and smoked for 10 years (17-27). I decided to make the switch because I was tired of feeling like shi– erm crap every day. I wanted something different.

Lauren: And do you no longer feel like crap now that you’ve switched to vaping? Continue reading “Vaping Success Story: Frank Spear”

Bring Back #StupidHandcheck

Twitter has been filled with anger and political turmoil for a while now. But, for a brief time last month, vapers united to lighten up their followers’ feeds with the hashtag #StupidHandcheck.

The idea was simple: Post your hand holding your mod (as you would with a traditional “handcheck”), and then include something you clearly will NOT be vaping. The more ridiculous, the better!

I truly enjoyed this Twitter hashtag and feel it came and went much too quickly.

I’d personally LOVE it if #StupidHandcheck became a hashtag staple for vapers both on Twitter and Instagram.

I follow all sorts of people on Twitter, but the vapers almost always have the funniest, most positive, feeds. They’re a fun-loving bunch of folks! And this was one hashtag where that fun-loving spirit really shone.

After scrolling through endless negativity, it was great to have a break to just chuckle at something purposely stupid. It really lifted my spirits every time a #StupidHandcheck was posted.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Missed out on the fun? Don’t worry. I screencapped and saved some of my favorites as they were going up last month. Check ’em out: Continue reading “Bring Back #StupidHandcheck”

Don’t Trust Wismec

Hey, Everyone!

Back in June, the picture to the left was circulating the vaping community in regard to the Wismec EXO Skeleton ES300.

Alarmed, I immediately wrote to the company to see what was up. I was informed that there were “no problems and no recall.” Reassured by a company I THOUGHT I could trust, I figured the picture was a one-off incident and I didn’t need to worry. I continued to use the mod.

Then, on August 4th, my own EXO Skeleton ES300 caught fire!!

Fortunately, I was awake at the time, and the damage was minimal. But I was plenty pissed.

Wismec had lied to me, and its other customers, and they needed to be held accountable.

I immediately wrote them another e-mail, and took to social media to call them out for their carelessness.

The E-mails

In this section, I’ll show screencaps of the exact response I got from Wismec via e-mail. In the next section, I’ll talk about the “solution” they gave to me via Twitter.  Continue reading “Don’t Trust Wismec”

How It Feels to Quit Vaping

Hey, Everyone!

I’ve quit vaping. Temporarily.

Here’s the thing: I recently lost my main source of income, and could no longer afford some of the “extras” in my life until I get my next GOOD gig. (Shameless plug: If you’re looking for a freelance writer or editor, hit me up!).

Such is the life of a freelance writer/editor. It’s called the “Feast or Famine” cycle. When you’re a freelancer, things are either really good, or really bad, and hardly any in-betweens. Right now, I’m in the “famine” part of the cycle, but, fortunately, that never lasts for TOO long. I’m good at what I do, and usually find work fairly quickly.

In the meantime, I’ve had to cut out some of my expenses that weren’t “mandatory.” Vaping was one of the things that got the cut, sadly.

How It Feels

I was never a smoker, so I never had to deal with quitting smoking. I started vaping as a way to ease my crushing anxieties and to give me something to do with my hands other than nervous ticks.

I was vaping at a level six nicotine.

Quitting was both “easy” and really, really hard. Continue reading “How It Feels to Quit Vaping”
