Don’t Trust Wismec

Hey, Everyone!

Back in June, the picture to the left was circulating the vaping community in regard to the Wismec EXO Skeleton ES300.

Alarmed, I immediately wrote to the company to see what was up. I was informed that there were “no problems and no recall.” Reassured by a company I THOUGHT I could trust, I figured the picture was a one-off incident and I didn’t need to worry. I continued to use the mod.

Then, on August 4th, my own EXO Skeleton ES300 caught fire!!

Fortunately, I was awake at the time, and the damage was minimal. But I was plenty pissed.

Wismec had lied to me, and its other customers, and they needed to be held accountable.

I immediately wrote them another e-mail, and took to social media to call them out for their carelessness.

The E-mails

In this section, I’ll show screencaps of the exact response I got from Wismec via e-mail. In the next section, I’ll talk about the “solution” they gave to me via Twitter. 

I’m going to assume that Olivia meant that the company plans to IMPROVE the quality in the future, not “approve” it. But I still have no intention of buying from them again.

Twitter Response: Get the Firmware Update

On Twitter, Wismec had a one-word response, as you can see below:

No link, of course, because Wismec has terrible customer service as well as terrible products. I actually got the link to the firmware update in question from my Twitter followers (thanks, guys!). You can find it here:

But here’s the thing: That is WAY not good enough. If someone gets horrifically injured from their EXO Skeleton ES300, is Wismec seriously going to say “Oh, there was a firmware update for that.”

Also… What the hell?! There’s a firmware update to keep this mod from CATCHING ON FIRE?!? That should be a feature straight out of the box!!

I’ve seen issues like this in the video games community more often than I can count. A video game will come out incomplete and the community will be assured that the game will rock as soon as the next update comes out to complete the game/fix the glitches. It’s absurd! But, in those cases, they aren’t putting anyone’s LIFE at risk.

What about the people who buy this mod who are unaware of this update? I certainly wasn’t aware — and Wismec didn’t tell me about it when I wrote to them back in June!

Or what about the people who don’t have internet access to download this update? Are they S.O.L.?

Wismec is careless and incompetent and are putting their customers’ lives at risk with their shoddy products.

I told my father to throw out his Wismec Reuleaux RX Mini. There have been no incidents reported (thus far!) with that particular mod; however, I no longer trust the company or their products as a whole. There was NO WAY I was going to risk my sweet dad having HIS vape catch on fire, or who knows what else!

Wismec has lost me as a customer and a reviewer. I will no longer be getting ANY of their products for private use or for reviews on this website.

I encourage you to do the same.
